From Deep Time to Deep Peace: An Afternoon with Satish Kumar
An afternoon to walk the Earth's story, share a meal cultivated from the land, and listen to the voice of a lifelong pilgrim for peace.
We invite you to join a gathering where soil, soul, and society meet — in the presence of Satish Kumar, long-time activist for ecology, nonviolence, and sustainable living.
This day is a call to reconnect deeply: to the land we cultivate, to the communities we nourish, and to the spirit that sustains our work for the future.
Before the Conversation: A Deep Time Walk Across the Farm
Before gathering for the evening talk with Satish, we invite you to take part in a Deep Time Walk across the fields and paths of Krumbecker Hof.
This walk will be a conscious journey through the Earth's history — an invitation to slow down, to walk in full presence, and to reconnect with the vast story of life that supports our daily work with the land.
Over the course of 4.6 kilometers, we will experience the major events that shaped our living planet, blending moments of silence, storytelling, and shared reflection.
Each step offers a reminder: we are not separate from the soil, the air, the water — we are participants in a living, evolving Earth.
Walking together before the conversation with Satish will allow us to root ourselves, individually and collectively, in the deeper rhythms of time and life.
Program
3:00 PM – Arrival and Welcome
Gather at Krumbecker Hof, an organic and biodynamic farm near Lübeck, where land stewardship is a daily practice.
4:00 PM – Deep Time Walk
Walk the story of 4.6 billion years of Earth’s evolution.
Through this embodied experience, we reconnect to the long lineage of life that makes farming, food, and human community possible today.
6:30 PM – Shared Dinner
A simple, seasonal vegetarian meal will be served — locally sourced wherever possible. A time to share reflections, ideas, and questions across generations and experiences.
8:00 PM – Conversation with Satish Kumar
Satish will speak about the sacred connection between the soil we care for, the soul we cultivate within ourselves, and the society we seek to regenerate.
This is not just an ecological discussion — it is a call to realign our lives and our work with the rhythms of life.

About Satish Kumar
Satish Kumar is a lifelong activist for ecology, peace, and spiritual renewal.
Born in India, he became a Jain monk at a young age before embarking on a journey that would shape his life’s work: a 8,000-mile walk from India to the capitals of the world’s nuclear powers, carrying a message of peace without money, relying only on trust and hospitality.
As the founder of Schumacher College and long-time editor of Resurgence & Ecologist, Satish has inspired generations to reconnect with the Earth, with community, and with their own inner calling.
His vision is simple and radical: if we care for the soil under our feet, the soul within ourselves, and the society around us, we lay the foundation for true sustainability.
Through decades of teaching and living by example, Satish invites us to rediscover humility, wonder, and a profound sense of responsibility toward all life.
About the Deep Time Walk
The Deep Time Walk is not just a walk — it is a journey across 4.6 billion years of Earth's history, experienced step by step.
Each meter you walk represents a million years of geological and biological evolution, from the formation of the early Earth to the emergence of humans.
Rooted in the work of Schumacher College, the Deep Time Walk helps us feel, rather than just understand, the deep interconnectedness of all life forms.
It reminds us that the soil we farm, the seeds we sow, and the water we protect are the result of countless generations of life shaping this living planet.
Walking the story of Earth expands our sense of time, deepens our ecological consciousness, and invites us to act with greater care and reverence for the land we steward today.
